Announcements
Week of February 10, 2019

In your daily devotions this week pray for the Anglican Church of Canada; the ministry of priests; the Episcopal Church at Princeton University; the Episcopal Campus Ministry at Rutgers; clergy and lay deputies of the 235th Diocesan Convention; and Kevin Moroney, Angela Cipolla, Robert Counselman and Glenn Druce, priests of our diocese.

February food drive - Suggested donations for February include pancake mix, syrup, oatmeal, cereal, and canned fruit. As always, other items are also welcome. Thank you very much for your continued support of our food drive for the people served by the Christian Caring Center.

New St. Peter's Prayer List: St. Peter's Intercessory Prayer List began anew as of February 1, 2019. Copies are in the narthex. We invite you to pick up a copy and pray for those listed as part of your daily prayers. Interested in joining our Prayer Vine? Contact Deacon Helen.

ShopRite & Acme cards are available for purchase after all services. Thank you for your continued support of the students of Redemption School, Haiti.

Blessed Palms – Blessed Palms from past years will be welcomed beginning Saturday, February 16 through Sunday, March 3, the Last Sunday after the Epiphany. A marked box will be in the narthex for your use. Palms will be burned to ash for use on Ash Wednesday. Thank you.

Volunteer Leaders for Morning and Evening Prayer in Lent: As is our tradition, members of St. Peter's will offer Morning and Evening Prayer to God throughout the Lent. Morning Prayer will be read Moore Memorial Chapel Monday-Friday at 9am; Evening Prayer will be read Monday-Thursday at 7pm. We are seeking volunteers to lead these services. Please use the sign-up sheet on the narthex table if you are interested in serving God in this way. Training is provided. Please see or contact Deacon Helen with any questions.

The church now has a text list to keep in touch with the parish! This will be used in case service times need to be cancelled for inclement weather, and to keep you up to date on any important happenings at church. We promise that we will not send too many messages--only the really important ones! To join, please text the phrase @1hartford to 81010. (Standard text messaging rates apply.)

If you haven't had a chance to look at the IOT (International Outreach Team) bulletin board, check it out. There are profiles of Haitian entrepreneurs and inventors from a Forbes magazine article. So often, we tend to think of the people of Haiti as being without. These profiles are a reminder that they have a lot to give, that they are creative and clever. You can also find out what Father Diegue, who oversees Redemption School in Gonaives, Haiti, looks like! His picture is part of an article about another school he runs and its support from a Massachusetts parish, from the ground up.

The Bishop Van Duzer scholarship fund assists high school seniors preparing to enter their first year of accredited college and post-secondary education. Applicants should be able to show proof of service to the local and wider church, community service, academic achievement, and financial need. Applications must be submitted online and are due no later than April 1, 2019. For more information and a link to the application, go to: http://dioceseofnj.org/documents-resources-and-forms/resources-for-churches/scholarshipsgrants/vanduzerscholarship/

The Episcopal Church Women's Student Service Award recognizes those young people who continue to serve their churches and communities. High School Seniors are eligible to apply, as are those students who will be enrolled in undergraduate studies during the 2019-2020 academic year. Applications are available on the narthex table and are due by April 1, 2019.
