ST. PETER’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, MEDFORD, NEW JERSEY

Announcements for the Week of February 5, 2012

In your daily devotions this week pray for the Anglican Church of Canada; the ministry of priests and the Alternates to General Convention; and Frances Bickerton, Eric Brechner, and C. Edward Pritts, priests of our diocese.

The Flowers on the Altar are given to the greater glory of God and in loving memory of Fred and Dorothy Griffiths, parents of Suzanne Crawford.

February food drive – This month we're collecting peanut butter and jelly for the Christian Caring Center to distribute to those in need in Burlington County.  There is a box in the narthex for your contributions.  Many thanks.

The Health Ministry is in need of meals for a parishioner.  Any meals placed in the freezer would be greatly appreciated and transported to the family. Please bring the meals to the office. Thank you to those who have donated.  Any questions, please contact Maureen Joos at 609-268-6505.

Married couples: have you been looking for an opportunity to renew your wedding vows, but have been waiting for the perfect place and time?  St. Peter’s Church at the 5 pm on February 11th, Valentine’s Day Saturday service is that place and time.  At that service, St. Peter’s will welcome all married couples wishing to re-affirm their commitment and love to each other in front of their families, friends, and neighbors.  After the service, come join us for a traditional spaghetti dinner – bring a bottle of wine to celebrate!  Babysitting will be available. Please contact Laurel to let her know if you will need this service. A sign-up list for those wishing to attend the dinner will be in the narthex.

The Sunday School classes are collecting donations for our giving basket as part of our multigenerational outreach project benefiting the Weisman Rehabilitation Hospital serving a population of boys and girls from infant to 18 years of age.  Some suggestions are activity and coloring books, small stuffed toys, hand held games, playing cards, books, magazines, and puzzles.  Please refrain from donating edible items.  A bin will be in the narthex and collections will be made during Sunday School on Feb 5 and 12.  Please join us at 9:30 on February 12th to make Valentine’s Day cards too!

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Tuesday, February 21, 5:30-7 p.m. followed by Palm Burning and Compline. St. Peter’s will host a traditional pancake supper of pancakes, sausage, applesauce and beverages.  $7 per adult; $5 for seniors 62 and over; $3 per child and children under 2 are free.  Tickets will be on sale today and next weekend. We look forward to seeing you there!

Blessed Palms for Shrove Tuesday Palm Burning:

You are welcome to bring in blessed palms from past years to be burned to ash for use on Ash Wednesday, this year. Please leave them in the marked box in the narthex or give them to Lisa to be passed on to Deacon Helen. We will be collecting palms through Sunday, Feb. 19, in preparation for their use on Wed, Feb. 22.

Volunteers needed to lead Evening Prayer throughout Lent: Once again this year, St. Peter's invites you to participate in Morning and/or Evening Prayer, Monday-Friday in Lent. (On Friday evenings, we follow the Stations of the Cross.)  In order to offer up our prayer to God in such a way, we need volunteers to lead Evening Prayer once a week at 7pm in the chapel.  Interested?  Please see Deacon Helen and/or sign up on the list on the narthex table.  Thank you.
