Week of December 2, 2018
Date posted: Fri, Nov 30th, 2018

In your daily devotions this week pray for the Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain; Church of the Advent in Cape May; and Robert Droste, Stephen White, Thomas May, Christopher McNabb, Nathan Ritter, mark Johnson, Matthew Burdette, Peter DeFranco, Jr., Molly Smith, Mark VanSant, Richard Wrede, Mantelle Bradley, Justin Falciani, Philip Kasey, James Tucker, William Ndishabandi, and John Patterson, priests of our diocese.

The Sanctuary Candle is given to the greater glory of God and in loving memory of Elaine, Raymond, Larry, Ralph, Dorothy, and Ralph, given by Georgia Cohen.

Acme and Shoprite Cards, Advent Calendars and Fair Trade Gift items at wholesale prices are available at the IOT table following all services. Your purchase of these items supports the education of primary school students at Redemption School in Gonaives, Haiti.

Please bring in new 2019 calendars, unused Christmas cards and unused Greeting cards for us to package for the Evergreens Nursing Home in Moorestown. Please package cards in separate rubberbands. A box in the narthex is available. We will be sorting December 5th at 10:00 am. Please contact Mary Allan if you can help.

Our parish will begin the observance of Advent with an Intergenerational (that means everyone is invited) Advent Workshop on December 2nd from 9-10 am in Williams Hall. There will be several stations for you to choose from including make your own Advent Calendar, paper Advent Wreath and Nativity scene. There will be a "quiet" corner in the chapel for prayer and meditation with the opportunity to write a prayer to place in the manger and to light a candle for those we wish to pray for. We ask that children be accompanied by an adult so they can enjoy the full benefit of the station(s) they choose to do. Since many of the activities are a "make and take" you will have something special to add to your home observance of the season of Advent.

The children will also practice each Sunday for the Christmas pageant that will be presented at the 10:15 service on December 16th. There will be a dress rehearsal on Saturday, December 15th at 10:00 am in the church. It's very important that if your child is in the pageant that they attend this so that they will be comfortable with the music and their part in the pageant. Thanks for your help and cooperation.

We are fortunate to have a terrific staff at St. Peter's. The Vestry is reaching out to parishioners to contribute toward gifts for the church staff. If you would like to contribute toward church staff gifts this December, you may do so by: placing your contribution in a box in the Narthex, placing in the offering, or bringing it to the church office. Please include your name and write "Gift for Staff" on the envelope or memo portion on your check. The Vestry will be accepting monetary gifts from the congregation between December 1 through December 16, 2018 to be put toward Christmas gifts for our six church staff. Money received after the deadline will be held for 2019. The staff members include: Deacon, Parish Administrator, Treasurer, Sexton, Christian Formation Director, and Organist/Choir Director. Thank you in advance for your generosity. It is very much appreciated – Thank you, St. Peter's Vestry.

Christmas Giving Tree: It's time to start shopping! Gift tags for Oaks Integrated Care in Mt. Holly and Virtua Early Intervention Program will be available on the tree in the church. Please take a tag and return it with an unwrapped toy or new article of clothing for a child or teen. Please attach the tag to your unwrapped gift. Deadline is Sunday, December 16. Thank you.

Consider Episcopal Relief & Development's Gifts for Life this season. Gifts for Life make for meaningful, creative gifts for teachers, family, etc. A Holiday Match means that your donation will be matched dollar for dollar (up to $700,000 total) through the end of the year, so your gift will mean twice as much! Pick up a catalog or a brochure under our IOT (International Outreach Team) bulletin board in Williams Hall or the narthex, or visit Episcopal Relief and Development does good work around the world; check it out! You may also donate to the US Disaster Fund to help victims of hurricanes and wildfires at (not part of the matching grant).

Too often, we get so caught up in the busy-ness of the weeks before Christmas that we forget to make room for the moments of returning and rest that open us to God. Find those moments by joining fellow parishioners in Moore Memorial Chapel for the reading of Morning Prayer at 9am and/or Evening Prayer at 7pm, Monday-Friday.

Advent Mite Boxes and Christmas Coin folders will be available this weekend. We encourage you to use one or both, making a prayerful offering when you say Grace before a meal. Offerings received will benefit the students of Redemption School, Haiti.
